Easy ways to help an author

The most obvious way to support an author is to buy their book, but that’s not the only thing you can do! I know that lots of my friends and family want to help, but I’m also aware that Star in the Shadows won’t be everyone’s favourite genre, or that some people will be a bit short of cash (especially with Christmas approaching!) So, apart from buying the book, there are lots of things you can do to lend a hand. Here are some ideas:

If you have two minutes…

Share a post from my Facebook or Instagram to help spread the word about the book or an event.

If you have five minutes…

Write a post for Twitter, Instagram or Facebook wishing me Happy Publication Day on October 30th! I can provide an image for you to use if you want one.

If you have ten minutes…

Put up a poster or some flyers about the book in your local cafรฉ, community centre, or staff canteen (I can provide the promo materials).

If you have fifteen minutes…

If you’ve read the book (thank you!) why not write a quick review and post it on Amazon/ Waterstones/ Austin Macauley websites? It’ll boost the book’s profile and help other readers decide if they want to buy it.

If you have an hour to spare…

Pop along to one of my events or signings so I don’t look like a desperate loner! A friendly face is always much appreciated.

Use your talents, time or contacts

Do you have talents that you can use to help me? For example, a friend of mine used her photography skills to help me take a good photo for promoting the book.

Perhaps you know a blogger or Instagrammer with lots of followers who might be willing share a post about the book?

Maybe you’re part of a book group and you’d like to host an evening Q&A with me?

Whatever it might be… any help will always be much appreciated. Drop me an email at helen@buckleybooks.org if you’d like to get in touch about what you can do to show your support.
