I’m a big fan of Dancing on Ice, in fact, it’s the inspiration behind Strictly on Ice. In my new novel, a bitter ex-Olympic skater and a washed-up rugby player team up on a reality skating show, where they have to deal with their painful pasts, media lies, and drama galore! Find out more about Strictly on Ice.
I won’t tell you who wins in the book, but as we all know from the real-life Dancing on Ice, the front-runners don’t always win the competition. Here are my favourite celebrities who didn’t win but who still thrilled and entertained us!
The actress was lovely to watch on the ice, and she managed to keep going on one routine even after she kicked herself in the head with her blade during a ‘scorpion kick’! How brave!
The Pussycat Dolls were an inspiration for the girl group Femme Fatale in my first novel Star in the Shadows, and I was a big fan of Melody when she was in the group and later on DOI. She skated beautifully, and managed to pull off the notoriously dangerous headbanger move!
Grease was one of my all-time favourite films when I was younger. Didi, who played Frenchie in the film, took part on DOI when she was 67 years old . Despite being the oldest-ever contestant, she managed to pull off some great routines, including this fun boxing-inspired one – complete with push ups!
The squeaky-voiced comedian was said to have “no natural ability whatsoever”, but he made me laugh every week, especially with his wacky 60s routine to Leveler:
Todd gave us some of the funniest DOI moments ever with his clumsy attempts to master the ice. But he did it all with such good humour and spirit!
What do you think?
Who are your favourite participants who didn’t win? Why? I’d love to hear what you think! Follow me on social media and get in touch. And if you like Dancing on Ice, why not take a look at my latest novel Strictly on Ice?
